How to Import and Export Bookmarks in Vivaldi

Every browser today supports bookmarks, and yes, we can import and export those from one browser to another.

Although the process is different in different browsers, it’s certainly possible. In this article, we will tell you how you can import bookmarks in Vivalidi and export Vivaldi bookmarks and import them to Google Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.

Vivaldi supports importing Google Chrome bookmarkjs without opening Chrome or exporting the file.

Follow the steps to import bookmarks from Chrome to Vivaldi:

  1. Open Vivaldi
  2. Go to Menu
  3. Go to Files
  4. Click on Import from applications or files
  5. In the dialog box, choose Chrome from the list of browsers
  6. Checkbox the Bookmarks
  7. Click Import

If you go to the Vivaldi bookmarks, you will see all of your Google Chrome bookmarks in the Vivaldi browser.

Microsoft Edge

Like Chrome, you can import bookmarks without opening Edge. Here are the steps:

  • Open Vivaldi
  • Open Menu  
  • Go to Files 
  • Click on Import from applications or files
  • In the dialog box, choose Microsoft Edge from the list of browsers.
  • Checkbox the Bookmarks 
  • Click Import

Firefox

The process is similar for Firefox users:

  • Open your Vivaldi browser
  • Open Menu and go to Files
  • Click on Import from applications or files
  • In the dialog box, choose Mozilla Firefox default release
  • Checkbox the Bookmarks and click on Import

Vivaldi supports some other browsers, but if you have the HTML file, you can easily import bookmarks without worrying about the browser or version.

For this method to work, you must have an exported HTML file. Follow the steps to import HTML bookmarks in Vivaldi:

  • Open your Vivaldi browser
  • Open Menu
  • Go to Files
  • Click on Import from applications or files
  • In the dialog box, choose the Bookmarks HTML file
  • Choose the HTML file from your computer
  • Click Open

Vivaldi allows exporting bookmarks to an HTML file that can be used to import to your favorite browser.

To export bookmarks, follow the below steps:

  1. Click on the Menu
  2. Select Files
  3. Click on Export Bookmarks
  4. Finally, choose your location and click on the Save button

One of the great things about this file is that it’s in HTML format, which means that you can open this file without importing it into other browsers.

Double-click it to open in the default browser, or right-click on it and open it with a different browser. In this file, all saved websites can be opened in that browser.

To export Vivaldi bookmarks, follow the steps below after exporting the HTML file:

  1. Open the Google Chrome browser
  2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner
  3. Click on Bookmarks
  4. Choose Import Bookmarks and settings…
  5. Click on the Dialog box list, choose Bookmark HTML file
  6. Open the Vivaldi HTML file
  7. Click on Import

You have Vivaldi bookmarks in your Google Chrome browser.

Export bookmarks in Vivaldi to Firefox

You cannot export bookmarks from Vivaldi directly to Firefox, but the HTML file we exported in the above section can be imported to Firefox.

To import Vivaldi bookmarks to Firefox, here are the steps:

  1. Open the Menu in Firefox
  2. Click on Bookmarks
  3. Open the Manage Bookmarks section
  4. Click on Import and Backup
  5. Choose Import bookmarks from the HTML file
  6. Open your Vivaldi HTML file

And now you have Vivaldi bookmarks in your Firefox browser.

How to export bookmarks in Vivaldi to Microsoft Edge

Like Firefox, we can’t import Vivaldi bookmarks, but the HTML file can be imported. Also, importing bookmarks is slightly different from Firefox.

Once you have the file, follow the below steps to import it into Microsoft Edge:

  1. Click on Settings
  2. Select More
  3. Click Favorites 
  4. Click on the three dots (…)/more in the top right corner
  5. Select the option Import Favorites
  6. Select the Favorites and Bookmarks HTML file in the new dialog box
  7. Click Choose
  8. Find and choose the exporting HTML file

The process takes longer than in Firefox, but the above images show every step.

 Conclusion

Many other browsers allow the direct export of the bookmarks; however, Vivaldi does not have that option.

But through HTML file export, you don’t have to lose your favorites and bookmarks and can transfer from Vivaldi to other browsers.
