If you’re looking for a good fitness app to help you stay on top of your goals, you’ve come to the right place.
In this article, we’ve covered Strava vs. Samsung Health, two well-liked fitness apps.
What are both
Strava is a fitness app for your workouts, claiming to be one of the best for runners, bikers, and athletes. Over 30 activities, including running, riding, walking, hiking, and yoga, can be tracked.
The app offers GPS activity monitoring and auto-generated and custom routes.
All core features are available in the free version, but you must upgrade to use the advanced options.

Auto activity tracking
Strava does not track automatically. You must start the activity to let it follow. Samsung Health automatically tracks your steps and calculates the calorie data.
During and after your workout, you find the map, total distance covered, elevation moving time, and speeds in both apps.
Samsung Health also shows total steps, pace, weather, and calories.
Step tracking accuracy
Both were accurate in terms of time, distance, and speed. The elevation part was slightly different, but looking at the data, I backed more Samsung Health.
Since Strava is primarily used as a fitness app, it does not track your sleep. However, other apps can be connected with Strava to calculate sleep timings and patterns.
Samsung Health uses the screen off time to calculate your sleeping time. For example, if you stop using your phone at 11 pm and then pick it up and use it at 7:30 am, the app will show those times.
You can also record your data manually.
Strava supports inviting friends to exercise together. You can add friends by entering their emails, importing from your contacts, and connecting your Facebook account.
Also, friends can be added to each workout to record their time. Strava comes with the public, followers, and only you options for your activities to share your exercise with the appropriate audience.
Moreover, Strava Clubs are communities of athletes that businesses can use to create local and global networks of athletes.
These clubs can create content, plan events, share a route, and support campaigns.
Users can participate in challenges on Strava over a few days, a week, or a month.
Samsung Health has a Together screen allowing you to exercise with friends. Go to the area, sync your contacts, and search for friends you want to work out with.

For iOS users: Samsung Health vs. Apple Health
Strava mobile application is compatible with iOS and Android phones. It can be paired with GPS watches, smartwatches, and cycling machines.
Samsung Health is an app for Android, iOS, and Samsung watches. Some headsets, scales, and even TVs support this app.
If you decide to upgrade to Strava’s Premium subscription, here are some extra features to look for:
- Custom goals and personalized training plans
- Live location tracking
- Expedited support and more
- Comprehensive effort analysis over time
- Advanced device metrics and in-depth analysis
Samsung Health courses
Samsung Health provides exercise programs and courses. These built-in fitness routines provide stretching, weight loss, jogging, endurance training, and other options.
Which one’s for you
Strava is more for those who are serious about their health. If you want an app to stay in shape or reduce weight, Strava will help.
Samsung Health has more options than Strava, but it’s a regular fitness app to stay healthy. If you are already in shape and want to be that way, Samsung Health will help.
However, you can use Samsung Health as Strava if you want a completely free program.
